Sail 2026

The Bonte Markt in Harlingen is a lively street market held during major maritime and local events. On July 4 and 5, we were present at this bustling market, in anticipation of Sail 2026, when Harlingen hosts the world’s largest sailing ships. From July 3 to 6, sailing vessels from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Lithuania, and, of course, the Netherlands visited this special maritime event. Over the course of two days, we engaged in many interesting conversations with visitors and sold numerous books about the life of Peter Sterkenburg. There was notable interest in the English-language edition of his biography, “Bound to the sea”. The captain of a tall ship showed great interest in the painter's history and enthusiastically purchased two copies. And even after these two fantastic days, we continued to receive many positive reactions and inquiries.
